Two-Week Machine Learning Seminar Series

The Avalon AI Community, in collaboration with the Google Developer Group of Campus ITS (GDGoC ITS) and the Intelligent Computing and Vision Laboratory (KCV Lab) from the Department of Informatics, hosted a two-week offline seminar series focused on building strong foundations in machine learning.

Held at the Informatics Building, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), the event attracted 115 highly engaged participants, combining theoretical sessions with hands-on practice to ensure deep understanding of key machine learning concepts.

Week 1: "Introduction to Python and Data Preprocessing in Machine Learning"

The first week featured Eldintaro Farrandi Arisdani and Jiryan Farokhi, both core team members of the Machine Learning division at GDGoC ITS. They introduced essential Python programming skills and demonstrated how to properly preprocess data for machine learning tasks—laying the groundwork for more advanced applications.

Week 2: "Supervised and Unsupervised Learning in Machine Learning"

In the second week, M. Rifqi Ma’ruf, Machine Learning Division Lead at Avalon AI Community, and Taib Izzat Samawi, Lead of the Barunastra Robotics Team ITS, explored deeper learning techniques. They guided participants through key concepts in both supervised and unsupervised learning, while also offering real-time implementation and coding practice.

Throughout both weeks, participants took part in hands-on sessions designed to turn abstract theories into tangible skills, equipping them with the tools needed to begin solving real-world problems using machine learning. Avalon AI Community and its partners continue to drive grassroots AI education through immersive and inclusive learning events. Together bridging the gap between university talent and cutting-edge technology.
